29 01 2008

Buat semua Team Leaders & Back Markers, Zin & keluarga, Mya Zara & TTM (onetor merajuk tu), One-tor yg kad TnG rosak kena pakai tiket – U guys rock the world.

Timbalan Ketua Polis Daerah Brickfields, Superintendan Azri Abdul Rahman, berkata pihaknya memilih kawasan berkenaan kerana ia terletak berhampiran Petaling Jaya dan mempunyai kadar jenayah agak tinggi.

Writeup (combine NICE and NETSTAR):

Off the top of our heads, if we were asked to name 2 current issues facing our country and economy at this stage, what will be the 2 things that would come to our minds? Undoubtedly, RISING OIL PRICES and CRIME RATES will be quite a likely answer.

WPC Malaysia, in our efforts to be the car club that cares for our members, decided to explore the currently available automotive gadgets that could potentially be useful to alleviate or even eliminate these 2 abovementioned issues. What better time than now to find out more about natural gas vehicle (NGV) systems and our country’s most effective vehicle tracking and discovery system?

On Saturday, 19 January 2008, we decided to trot down to Taman Sri Batu Caves to visit Nice Network Diversified Sdn Bhd – Malaysia’s premier NGV conversion kit supplier, followed by Netstar Advanced Systems Sdn Bhd – the makers of the familiar CAPTOR Vehicle Tracking and Discovery System.

We arrived at Nice Network’s premises at about 10.30am, registered our attendances, and were treated to a very enlightening presentation by En Suhaini (Chief Operating Officer), and En Suhaizi (Director) which gave us a whole new picture and a better idea of how NGV systems operate within vehicles. This presentation session, which lasted for about 45 minutes, attracted many questions from the floor, as this is a relatively new concept to most people that we know (that’s what happens when things like this are taken somewhat for granted more often than not). Following the presentation, we were treated to a meal of nasi lemak and karipap by Nice Network, which was followed by some product demonstrations by En Suhaizi. We managed to get see and hold the components of the NGV conversion kit – things that the taxis are using nowadays on a large scale, but we are just not aware of it. NGV is definitely the way to go as far as alternative fuel is concerned for the automotive industry, with the current trend in oil prices and environmental issues.

After saying goodbyes to Nice Network following the wrap up of the session, we then headed just one block behind to look into something that would prove to become a bane for thieves. CAPTOR – produced by Netstar Advanced Systems – conveniently fitted (currently) into most Proton cars of late, has a success rate of recovery exceeding 90%, which makes it the most efficient vehicle tracking and recovery system in the country.

This visit to Netstar was a special one indeed, because the event was also graced and officiated by Y B Dato’ V. Jagarasah, the ADUN of Batu Caves.
Following a hearty lunch provided by Netstar, and the speeches by Mr K L Tan (CEO of Netstar), Y B Dato’ Jagarasah and the presidents / VP of WPC Malaysia, Satria Neo Club and Savvy Owners Club (SAVOC), there were two streams of activities.

The first stream was a demonstration of how the CAPTOR system works in real life, whereby a CAPTOR-fitted Proton Persona was to be placed at a relatively hidden spot (i.e. “stolen”), and the CAPTOR recovery vehicle was to track and locate the “stolen” vehicle (a little game of hide-and-seek if you like). The VP of WPC Malaysia and President of SAVOC had the opportunity to be in the Proton Persona, while Y B Dato’ Jagarasah and the President of Satria Neo Club were placed in the recovery vehicle. At about 2.45pm, they went off to play their little “game” above.

Concurrently, the rest of the audience back at Netstar’s premises were treated to video presentations of CAPTOR products, and a technical Q&A session hosted by the staff of CAPTOR. It was indeed an interesting session, as there were questions from all angles shot by the audiences. We all learned a lot about CAPTOR products, and for a number of us, it was the first time we found out that CAPTOR also caters to cargo and fleet security, as well as household and building security.

At about 3.30pm, after the presentation and Q&A session, the Proton Persona and the recovery vehicle arrived back to base. From there, we were all shown how the system actually works, from the blinking lights to identify the stolen vehicle, to the fuel cut which immobilises the vehicle. After the demonstration, the lucky draw was held, whereby a hamper and 7 other prizes were given away.

The entire session finished off with a group photography session, and club photography session. Following that, we then proceeded to a nearby mamak restaurant for TT. We dispersed at approximately 5.30pm.

We at WPC Malaysia would like to thank the members who have shown support for these events which have proved to be very educational and eye-opening to all of us. We would also like to thank Nice Network Diversified and Netstar Advanced Systems for hosting us and giving us a very informative session today as well.

There will be more of these visits coming up, introducing us to more and more technology behind the latest gadgetry for our beloved cars. Till then, stay tuned!

Waja Performance Club – The Blog

15 01 2008

wpc_logo_s.gif

In view of the intricate process of updating the WPC Website we has decided to put up a blog for our beloved club. In this blog, we will be updating on Event Announcement, Teh Tarik Session Venue, Event Reports and other information related to the club.

About Waja Performance Club of Malaysia (excerpts from WPC website)  The WAJA Performance Club was an informal club in its early stage of gestation in late 2000. Primarily, the idea of a club for WAJA owners was mooted in the discussion forum of Autoworld at http://www.autoworld.com.my where topics regarding the Proton WAJA were discussed be various forum participants both prior to and after the official launch of the WAJA on 8th of May, 2000 at Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam. Keen interest was shown as the then existing Proton WIRA model was to be replaced after an illustrious 8 year dominance with a new car that supposedly was 100% designed by Malaysians and had a composition ratio of 80% of components sourced locally. The various discussion centred on the WAJA’s engine capacity, handling, performance, build quality, etc. It was through these said discussions informally for a few members to propose and moot the idea of a legally incorporated club to focus the discussions, achieve a homogeneous or otherwise source of information and harvest ideas about the WAJA, warts and all, from a few enthusiastic owners. It is our wish that members obtain the optimum enjoyment out of the WAJA by providing information, discussion, generic merchandise and practical advice, in addition to bringing together and keeping in touch with those of like mind and passion for the WAJA.

Apart from this blog, for more info you can visit WPC Website and WPC Forum.
